We would go in the morning before skiing, come back after skiing, and then come back again before bedtime. We spent hours in the waterpark and since it was included with our hotel stay we could come and go as we pleased. There were multiple slides, splash zones, play structures, and our favorite a lazy river. We love having the best of both worlds, so we spent the mornings bundled up in snowsuits and the evenings in bathing suits at Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Water Park! The indoor waterpark was a ton of fun. The Northwoods Gondola Skyride is open year round and is a must do. She loved getting out at the top and pretending she was Queen of the Mountain. In fact, the gondola was my daughter's favorite part. While we were just learners and not ready to tackle all of the 110 trails Gore has to offer, we were very excited to ride the gondola to the top! The views were absolutely stunning. I was so proud of my daughter and myself - we can not wait to get back on the slopes! My daughter and I were very comfortable with our instructors and after an hour of instruction, I was able to take a ski lift and go down a REAL hill! With long traditional skis, this process would have taken several lessons. When we arrived at Gore we were greeted by friendly instructors that helped us with our equipment and told us what to expect. Gore's Ski School uses a smaller specialized ski for their students that is meant to streamline the learning process, called Parallel from the Start. We chose Gore Mountain because it is New York's biggest mountain and they have an awesome ski school. My daughter and I have always wanted to learn how to ski so I thought our getaway would be the perfect time to learn together. We chose Lake George, New York because we could spend our days skiing at Gore Mountain and our evenings on the waterslides at Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark. Our baby is now 8 months old so we have a little more flexibility in our schedules and I decided to take Big Sister on a much needed Mommy-Daughter Getaway. The first couple months after welcoming the baby were spent in survival mode, where much of our daily plans and activities were determined by how long the baby slept and when his next bottle would be. The tubes look clean, nothing has been defaced, paint doesn't appear to be chipping and the landscaping looks better than most places that are regularly maintained. My daughter was the only child for nine years before we had another baby. When YouTubers went inside with a drone in early October, it somehow looks as if Water Slide World has been frozen in time as it sits abandoned in Lake George since 2017. Heck, I've only been sitting around for two years during the pandemic - as opposed to 4 years since WSL was abandoned - and there's a helluva lot more wore and tear on me. I can't speak on the innards of Water Slide World, and I'm no expert in the area of abandoned exploration, but this place looks pretty darn good of you to ask. Looks to be in perfectly good working order So, it's only natural - one would think- that it's rotting away high up in the Adirondack's, right? A lot of times when we see YouTubers enthusiastically posting videos online of their abandoned escapes, what we see is the corrugated decay of what used to be, b ut not in this case.
